Before The ILLusionists, I was a guitarist for hardcore bands like Dead Fucking Serious, This Day's End and Outreach. After years spent focused on rap, I started playing bass for a couple bands on the side (Judo Pony, Jori & The Push). They got me excited about playing my instruments again, so I started messing around with a track that became "Welcome To Hell."

I borrowed some guitar layering techniques from Billy Corgan, and sampled riffs from bands like Black Sabbath and Soundgarden, resulting in the meanest sounding tracks I've ever produced.

The songs were arranged and recorded spontaneously, each with a different drummer, while I led the sessions on bass. My years as an MC have shaped the way I write lyrics, so most of my vocals are just a hyper-aggressive version of what I do in The ILLusionists.

I expect that some people will compare this record to the rap metal jackoffs of the late 90's. To them, I offer these words:
